Korenmolen de Hoop

♦ Oosteinde 7, Oud-Alblas ♦ 10 min. ♦

Visit the national monument Korenmolen De Hoop in Oud-Alblas. Besides the mills of Kinderdijk, the Alblasserwaard region has more unique mills. Korenmolen De Hoop is one of them. Built as a tower mill in 1844, it was fully operational for the first 100 years. After being closed for a period of 10 years, the mill was restored from 1972 to 1978. De Hoop is one of the few mills in the Alblasserwaard still in full operation. The mill grinds about 500 kilograms of wheat per week for home bakers, and the ground flour is used in various mixes. Even the pancake mix from Avonturenboerderij Molenwaard is ground here!

Visit the mill During your visit, will you go with a real miller to the highest point of the mill? He will explain during a tour how the wind ensures that the grain is ground and how that ultimately becomes an ingredient for a pancake or sandwich. You can also try various skilled actions yourself.
